Notice of Nondiscrimination
The Sam Houston Schoolhouse State Historic Site, operated under agreement with the Tennessee Historical Commission, does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, disability, age, or sex in the administration of its programs or activities, and does not intimidate or retaliate against any individual or group because they have exercised their rights to participate in or oppose any action protected or prohibited by applicable nondiscrimination laws and regulations, including Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended; Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; the Age Discrimination Act of 1975; and Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972.
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 provides that "No person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance."
Any person who believes they have been subjected to discrimination under any of these laws may file a complaint with the Tennessee Historical Commission or the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation's Non-Discrimination Coordinator.
